Maximizing Suction with the Ermator S36

Maximizing Suction: How to Clean the Pre-Filter on Your Ermator S36

Maintaining high-performance suction isn’t just about having a powerful machine; it’s about proper maintenance during the job. In our latest video, we demonstrate how to quickly clear a clogged pre-filter on an Ermator S36 (8600 series) HEPA Dust Extractor to keep your job site dust-free and your equipment running at peak efficiency.

Why Your Dust Extractor Loses Suction

When you’re tackling heavy demolition or concrete grinding, fine dust particles quickly coat the internal pre-filter. Even with a high-capacity machine like the Ermator, this “dust cake” restricts airflow, forcing the motor to work harder and reducing the vacuum’s effectiveness.

The “Jet Pulse” Cleaning Method

The Ermator series features a specialized pulse cleaning system that allows you to clear the filter without opening the canister (which would release dangerous silica dust into the air).

Steps to restore suction:

  1. Block the Inlet: Ensure the hose is blocked to create maximum internal pressure.

  2. Engage the Pulse Lever: Depress the cleaning lever rapidly. As seen in the video, this “pulses” the filter, knocking the built-up debris into the Longopac bagging system.

  3. Verify Debris Fall: You can actually see the volume of dust dropping into the bag—often several inches of fine material that was previously choking your suction!

Pro-Tip for Longevity

Regularly pulsing your filter doesn’t just improve suction; it extends the life of your expensive HEPA filters by preventing fine particles from being forced deeper into the pleats.
